The scene opens to the outside of a nice night club around downtown San-Diego, A car pulls up, nice 1972, Red and white ford Gran Torino, the engine rumbles a bit before it purrs to a dead sleep. the driver door opens to reveal a blonde haired, sharp dressed man, wearing a pair of nice romani sun glasses. He tosses the keys to valet parking boy and smiles to the bouncer.
Alex Wilkie: “My man, Little Jim, how ya doing”
He did a little bit of a hand shake with him, the man was obviously not little, he was a fairly large black man, with a bald head and pale white eyes... people were scared of him, not because of his stature, but because of his eyes, which pierced right into you.
Alex: “This is a friend of mine...”
He smiled and held his arm out to the lady behind him, as she took his hand in hers, but only as a gesture of friendship. Xaria stepped forward in a white spaghetti strap blouse with tiny angel wings imprinted on the upper front, a daisy yellow full-belted voile skirt and silver one-inch sandals. She faced "Little" Jim and bowed her head politely.
Xaria: "Bonjour monsieur. Mon nom est Xaria Linette."
Little Jim: “Huh?”
Alex: “Its cool man, Her name is Xaria...”
Little Jim: “Oh I gotcha...”
'Little' Jim looked at her and said very slowly.
Little Jim: “WELCOME TO AMERICA... HAVE A NICE TIME!”
He unclipped the velvet rope and let them in, Alex just shook his head an laughed and looked to Xaria.
Alex: “Sorry, they didn't hire him for his brains... true fact...”.
Xaria: "You know we're still standing by him, right?"
She smiled a little and poked his nose with a finger.
Xaria: "I think we should get inside before he changes he mind, oui?"
Alex shook his head again.
Alex: “It's cool, we bullshit all the time.”
He laughed a bit and punched him in the arm before leading Xaria into the night club.
She smiled as he led her inside and glanced around. This one was a little rowdier than the ones she's been to, already spotting quite a few drunk people being a bit too loud, perhaps even out of control. Fortunately, there were plenty of security guards around to keep things "sane". Just observing from the entrance, she could tell that this night club was more for the casual person with a limited amount of money in their pockets.
Xaria: "This is definitely new..."
He laughed a bit.
Alex: “Yeah its one of the nicer places, if you can believe it...”
He pointed to a booth over looking the dance floor
Alex: “There's a nice spot... I'll get us something to drink... what'll you have?”
He looked to the bar... he wasn't supposed to have anything Alcoholic, but Xaria was... even though he wasn't sure if she drank anymore either... or drank at all.
Xaria: "Hmmm... I've been told by my employees, even Monsieur Francis, that I need to take on bolder drinks than just the fruit margaritas... why don't you pick something daring for me with a Pepsi chaser please?"
She offered him a sincere smile and made her way over to the designated seating area of choice. Fortunately, it was one where smoking wasn't allowed.
---
It was only about an hour into the drinks when Alex's phone began to viberate...
Alex: “...So I said to the guy... Ah.. Shit hang on”
He pulls his phone out and flips it open.
Alex: “...Yeah...Uh-huh?.... Alright... Okay man... I'll talk to you later...”
He closes his phone and stares at it for a second
Alex: "That was my agent..."
He looked at Xaria almost white in the face...
Alex: “I have to go... Can I drive you home?”
Xaria: "Huh...?"
Seeing as it was her first time drinking something stronger than fruit margaritas, particularly her favorite of the night, hurricanes with pepsi chasers, and it stacked up to a little more than ten shots, she was-- to put it bluntly-- drunk. Silly, but drunk. She looked at him and giggled.
Xaria: "Why are we going home already, cookie...?"
He shook his head and laughed a bit, taking her hand
Alex: “We gotta get you home to Gabe... How does that sound?”
He smiled and began to lead her out the door.
Alex: “Besides, you've had just about enough for tonight...”
She took a glance behind them towards their table, staring at the empty shot glasses and chaser cups, and giggled. Little did she know about the consequences she would face in the morning... but for now she seemed giddy, bubbly even, allowing him to guide her outside.
Xaria: "Hee... she's so silly... but I didn't know she was bold enough to go for hurricanes like that... the dorky little girl. I'm amused."
The tone of her voice sounded a little... humorous.
After an awkward conversation explaining the situation to Gabe, He was on his way, he didn't know where too, he didn't know why, he just drove... It didn't take him long to get to an off road and over looking a cliff. It was close to his house, but still a ways away, at that point in time, he was the only human around for 50 miles... it was peaceful and yet, why did he not feel at peace?
Alex: “So... Wade Mason likes to keep things close to the vest... Close to the vest... Heh... I figured he'd stick me up against Blazenwing or Xaria... but he stuck me up against someone who I know is capable of so much more than what he did on Animosity... He put me in the ring against Hunter Sullivan... I applaud your booking skills Mr Mason, I really do... he knows, obviously... Wilkie vs Sullivan is Money... Money in his pocket... San Diego will be buzzing all this week about how next Monday Night, It'll be two of PWA's Finest... two of TGW's Rising stars, and two of The Pantheon who will square of in the Animosity ring...”
He shook his head and leaned to the side a bit.
Alex: “Understandably, all Wade Mason wants is for his thriving little fed to make some money and be the best there is, the best there was and the best there ever will be... if he has to bust a few heads, I guess that's fine, as long as it isn't his...”
He chuckled a bit.
Alex: “I'm kidding... I have nothing but respect for Wade Mason, and I saw this coming... I mean, with such a small roster... I'd either wind up facing a girl.. or someone I knew... and a good wrestler is always prepared... that's why I thought came up with these cue cards to help me out...”
He began to sift through some of his pockets... he looked to the camera and gave an nervous chuckle before he continued to search, pulling out pockets. His face turned alittle white before he gave another nervous chuckle.
Alex: “Shit... Well... I uh... I figured this would happen too... Oh I'm so fucking dead...”
He groaned a bit and pulled a smoke out of his pocket... he thought about it, then put it back.
Alex: “That's okay...”
he rubbed his eyes a bit with his index finger and thumb...
Alex: “Can we- Can we cut for just a second?”
- The scene cut back in.
Alex: “Here I am... My first match in the TGW and already I feel like its my first match in the wrestling business all over again... I remember, back when I was in BWF... after my tag team failure with Casey Campbell, I went on to go into singles competition under the new moniker as the “Smartest Wrestler Alive” 'Grade A' Alex Wilkie... this was my first big step into a much larger world... I'd gone from wrestling the indies. To running with the wolf pack... and as most people feel, I was the runt of the litter... I longed to be in the same matches as David Blazenwing, Chamelion and The Legend... I wanted to be in the elimination chamber... I wanted to hold the BWF World title over my head... in the end... what did I have to show for my first run in the BWF? Failed attempts at getting the BWF US title.. and a short run with the tag team titles... Sure... some would look on that as an achievement- especially in my young career...”
He sighed a bit.
Alex: “But that wasn't good enough for me. No... I felt like I failed myself... I quit the BWF... and I thought that was it, I'm a failure and I can't even cut it in the world of wrestling... what would I do then? My Dad wanted me to join the army... that was what he did when he was in a rut, and he's been in it for his life and doesn't plan on retiring any time soon... Of course... I refused, and my dad hasn't talked to me in a few years... So in a way, not only did I feel like I failed myself, but I failed him as well...”
He looked to the camera.
Alex: “Hunter, do you know what its like? To have your father come up and tell you he's disappointed in you... and thought you could have done better... It's.. well it's pretty much heart breaking... I mean... my dad didn't support me when I wanted to be a wrestler.. and when I quit and told him I failed... he thinks of me as a quitter...”
He shook his head a bit
Alex: “Well, after my stint in BWF... I went to PWA... Chamelion, the man I looked up too, offered me a place among his roster... and offered me a contract I'd have killed to have in the BWF... Chamelion offered words of encouragement, advice... help... he was like a mentor to me, as he is almost like the eldest god in the Pantheon... do you know what happened with his guidance and help? I went on to win the PWA Title... and the Who's the Man Tournament in the same night, a feat, that has only been done twice before! Can you imagine... how I must've felt... I was on top of the world... and yet... it was taken away from me... by a baseball bat and a crazed lunatic, bent on making my life hell... I had to give up the title to Chamelion's wife, and again.. the world of wrestling turned its back on me...”
Alex: “But I came back, I came back with a renewed vigor, and a sense that I was now one of the big dogs, I was now one of the elite... when PWA came back, It was like I was home... and that's what I was looking for...”
He smiled a bit.
Alex: “and the rest, as they say is history... I no longer feel like I'm a failure, even if my dad doesn't talk to me, I no longer feel the need to wish to be a part of those big matches, because I am in those matches... and this is exactly the kind of matches I want to be in... so even while I'm nervous... I guess you could say I'm excited... maybe you'll stay true to what you truly believe in Hunter, and you'll take me out and hurt me like you do to all your opponents and maybe this will truly be like my first match and I'll lose horribly...”
he grinned a bit.
Alex: “Or maybe... Just maybe... I can reach deep down and pull the win that I'm looking for... will it be luck? Will it be because I cheated? Or will it be because it is written?”
Alex: “It all comes down to whether or not it's in my fate to win... or will my fate be knocked away by a Viper by the Hunter Sullivan ”
He sighed and shook his head a bit, then laughed. He sat on the hood of his car and looked up at the night sky, he popped a smoke into his mouth and lit it. He hummed “Superstar” by the Carpenters as the scene faded.
