"Yo, look! FRANCHISE! FRANCHISE! You were killer, tonight, son!"
"Looks like the Lightning Empress didn't bring her 'A' Game!"
"JaGi's a bum, Franchise! You keep doing what you do, man!"
These, among the other heart felt sentiments and phrases, blasted Russell Franchise's ear after his big win against Kaori Shikagami. While there was a little bit of controversy about how the match ended, for the most part, Franchise was in his world once again. With the fans screaming his name almost religiously, wrestlers in the back giving him props, and the love he got from his friends and family he flew all the way from Charlotte made it feel like Monday Night was the greatest night in his life.
As the party moved from the TGW Arena to McHale's Pub, Franchise sipped on his whiskey and coke as Pablo, Franchise's bodyguard and advisor, made sure he was taken well cared for by the staff.
Pablo: Looks like you're an instant celebrity tonight. You might be bigger than L.T. or anybody from the Chargers if you keep winning in this town.
Franchise: Well, I'm not going to say that I'm big quite yet! But I will say this: Kaori was a hard bitch to fight, but I managed to stop the Empire before it got any bigger.
Pablo: Russell, I got to say, the moves you did in the ring, vintage Franchise! Hard to tell you been out of the game for 3 years!
Franchise: Pablo, I never step down from a challenge! I face everything head on. I didn't do it in the NFL, didn't do it tonight, and I'm not going to do it in the future! If anything, a challenge makes me stronger and forces me to fight harder!
Pablo: I only got one question though. When Jagi got into the ring, he was saying stuff to you. What kinda shit was he talking about?
Franchise looked Pablo directly in the eyes. As much as Franchise wanted to speak his mind and say the choice words Jagi had to say, some things had to be kept to one's self...especially things that might incriminate one's self.
Franchise: Pablo, mi amigo, I'm not worried about what Lady JaGi said to me. The fact of the matter is he tried to start some shit with me. I don't know why he needed to interject his presence in my match when he should have focused on his own match. Now, he has to fight his way back into the Folder hunt while all I have to do is defend my folder. (Pause) Dude, I'm finished drinking for the night. I need to get some rest. Hitting the bench hard in the morning!
Pablo: Homes...you just won your first match in TGW; you can afford to celebrate some more!
Franchise: I'll celebrate when I get some gold around my waist!
Franchise quickly gulped the rest of his drink and left a nice tip for the waitress as Pablo and Franchise headed back to his loft. Franchise needed to get his sleep because if he wanted to keep his title hopes alive, he had to get back on the grind again! --------------------------------------------------------------
If you ask any professional athlete how they keep winning games or matches, 9 times out of 10 they are willing to attribute a strong work discipline they stick to day in and day out! Russell Franchise would be one of the 9 athletes who believes in this too!
Russell Franchise wakes up every morning at 5 AM PST (8 AM Charlotte time, Eastern Standard Time) with a renewed purpose to become better than what he was yesterday! After filling up on some simple breakfast staples (eggs, bacon, buttered toast, an apple, and a tall glass of Florida Orange Juice), he walks down the ten flights of stairs to get to the lobby of his loft's building and begins his almost 4 and a half mile jog to the Gold's Gym!
Music blaring in his earphones, Franchise recounts the actions of his previous match. He remembers every opportunity taken and not taken. His body aches from the pain inflicted upon him when he didn't pay attention and got caught flinching by Kaori. He replays the words Jagi told him in the ring. The "poke" from Jagi still replays in the back of Franchise's mind, almost like a broken record player. To Russell, learning from your past helps you keep the future in perspective. It also helps you to learn from the mistakes and vow never to make them again....like letting Jagi walk out of the ring unscathed.
The 'A' Game arrives at the gym where, after checking in with the drowsy eyed attendant, he goes to work on the iron horse!
10 mins on the bench. 15 mins on the speed bag to work on his speed. 5 min. break! 10 mins working on the Abs! 20 mins on the stationary bike for Cardio. 5 min. break! 10 mins back on the bench. 10 mins on the speed bag. 5 mins on the Abs! Stretch out his muscles one last time.
Franchise is then back on a 4 and a half mile jog back to the loft. Russell feels the pain all over his body, but he will never show the pain in his face! Not his style, really! Pain is to be dealt, now showned! Pablo, just waking up at 9:30, opens the front door and lets in his employer in the house!
Pablo: You know, you're a better man than me! I can't fathom waking up at 5 in the morning just to work out for 2 hours now and another 2 hours later in the hot sun!
Franchise: That's why I'm the athlete and you're the chubby bodyguard!
Pablo: Ha ha! Russell, I know you don't want me to bring up Jagi so early in the morning after last night, but I just need to know what he said. Did he try to threaten you or...
Franchise: Pablo, as I said earlier, don't worry about the shit Jagi brought up! He was just trying to get into my head! The shit doesn't even matter at this point!
Pablo: The dude poked you in the chest and you just let it happen without fighting back!
Franchise: WHAT DO YOU WANT ME TO DO, MAN? If I was to throw a punch back at him, Kaori might've gotten a good shot at finishing me! Jagi wanted me to lose my focus! I didn't let that prick get into my mind and I managed to Franchise Tag Kaori just for the hell of it! If he wants to prove what type of man he is, he knows where he can find me. If he wants to finish the damn business, I'm ready for it! Words are cheap! He can say whatever he wants to say to make himself feel important. I'm waiting for him to throw the first punch!
Pablo: Well, you think he might interfere with your next match?
Franchise: I don't think he has the balls to do it! After getting the shit beaten out of him by Xaria, I don't expect him to play with a full deck this week! But I got to get my mind on Blazenwing!
Pablo: Man, Mason has managed to set you up with a nice match! He's an icon in the wrestling world, and he's not going to be a walk in the park!
Franchise: I got to say, Pablo, if there is anybody I can respect the hell out of in TGW, it would be Blazenwing! He has won some of the top belts you could ever win in the wrestling game! David is not a man one can fuck around with. If he finds the right opportunity, he'll destroy anybody that comes in his way. And I know he can't be too happy about his lost last week and he wants to gain a measure of revenge back. But son, I got a golden ticket and I'm not letting anybody cash it in that isn't The 'A' Game!!!
Pablo: Sounds like you got a game plan set up!
Franchise: The game plan this week is to simply defend my folder against the best in the world! Yeah, it sounds like a tall order, but I gotta go into the PPV as a major title contender.
David Blazenwing knows this match is important! He wants to show the world that he's still the best pound for pound fighter in the world! But, out of respect, I'm not going to lay down for him or anybody in TGW! I always talk about how I want to be the best wrestler in the world, and what better opportunity will I actually get to measure my skills than to fight "The New Hot-Ness"! He claims to be indistructable, but the whole world found out last week that I'm more than capable of ending empires from being created! I'm not trying to retire him, God knows he has retired more times than Brett Farve! All I'm trying to do is send him a message! The message being that his "indistructable" is no match for my 'A' Game!
My goal is to extend my winning streak and give Blazenwing an example of the future in Professional Wrestling! The future of Professional Wrestling involves me dominating against the immortal legend and then....at the PPV....become the TGW's first World Champion or first Volutionary Champion! So, if Blazenwing or his wife have a problem with it, or even if Lady Jagi wants to trot down to the ring and poke me in the ribs one more time to keep himself relevant some more, they can bring the pain, and I'll bring.....THE 'A' GAME!
Pablo shows his respect to Russell by fist-bumping this best friend. For Russell, the next week is going to be filled with all sorts of preparations. Russell still has the old footage of ESW's matches Blazenwing was in and other matches he's managed to snag from the internet. Simple exercise and video analysis alone won't be enough to beat Blazenwing! Franchise knows that if he wants to be the best, he has to become the best!
