...it’s all part of the plan. The scene opens and we see a single, blinding light searing the lens of the camera. Only the sound of faint breathing can be heard. The camera slowly pulls back and the blinding light gets smaller - a flickering flame on the end of a candle. For a moment, the camera freezes on the image of the nearly white flame surrounded by darkness. Then, one by one, larger candles begin to light, seemingly on their own, attached to the wall behind the first candle. As the final candle on the wall comes to life with a spark, the camera pans to the right and we see TGW star David Blazenwing leaning against the wall, casting an immense, unending shadow. Over his shoulder, the Blazenwing Wrestling Federation Heavyweight Championship sits comfortably. David: September. It’s the month that I was born. It’s always had a special meaning for me. But, that meaning has increased tenfold since becoming a professional wrestler.David gently pats the BWF Championship, smirking ever so slightly. David: Two times, I won this title. The World Championship, in the wrestling federation I used to own. Some people would say that it wasn’t an accomplishment. That the only reason I won the title twice is because I owned the company. Maybe that’s true. I certainly have a case against it. Scars... bruises... aches that, years after the matches, still haven’t left my body.Blazenwing turns his head away from the camera and tilts it up, towards the ceiling, evidently lost in thought. David: September of 2003 is when I first became the BWF Champion. We had just opened months before, and the roster was small. A guy by the name of Bam won the tournament - if you can call it that, considering half the people never showed up to compete - to be crowned the first-ever BWF Champion. But, as soon as he won it, he left the company for personal reasons. Now, I have nothing but praise for Bam... he eventually came back and was World Champion in BWF four more times. But, at that time, in September of 2003, the BWF needed someone, anyone, to step up to the plate and represent. Someone who I knew wouldn’t leave the company the moment I handed them the title.David smiles. David: And of course, at that time, the only person I could trust was myself. So, I did the unthinkable and awarded myself the BWF Championship.Blazenwing shrugs slightly. David: I only had the title for two weeks. Like a real Champion would, I opted not to defend the belt against one man, but instead put myself into an Elimination Chamber with five of the BWF’s toughest. Ghost won the title from me that night, and I was confident that he would carry the belt proudly. I was also confident that I would never need to represent the BWF as it’s World Champion ever again. It wasn’t worth the criticism.Blazenwing looked into the camera for a moment, chuckled softly, then sighed. David: But life rarely ever works out the way we’d like it to. We all have rivals in our career, that one guy or girl who always seems to pop up wherever you are and always gives you the biggest challenges of your career. Mine was Danny Allen, better known to wrestling fans as The Executioner. At the end of 2003, Exie was reigning high as the BWF’s Intercontinental Champion. He was on the precipice of getting his first crack at the BWF Championship when, in a complete surprise to me, he walked out on BWF and joined a rival company. Exie swore up and down in interviews that he would never wrestle in BWF again, that I was a horrid taskmaster and he wanted nothing to do with me. And yet, by the beginning of 2005, after a handful of “guest spots”, he officially re-signed onto the roster, and within months, had captured the BWF Championship like he was always destined to do.David cracks his neck softly and shakes his head. David: To this day, I still don’t know what possessed me to attack him in the summer of ‘05. What drove me to handcuff him to the ropes and watch while I knocked his fiancée out and took a knife to her forehead on live pay-per-view. At the time, I wasn’t in power - I was merely a wrestler. And so, in September of 2005, I got my title shot against Exie. And I won.David grins. David: For those of you keeping track at home, that’s two World Titles in September.David laughs, then continues. David: As usual, I didn’t hold it long; Exie is still an amazing competitor and it wasn’t long before he got his rematch - an Ironman Match, if I recall correctly - and bested me to regain the gold. But, it wasn’t my last title. And I’m still not done.At this, David pushes off from the wall and walks over to the candle in the middle of the room. He crouches down near it, the light flickering violently off his face. David: I’ve always been a believer that good things come in threes. So far, I’ve captured a World Title twice in the month of September. The third time is a charm. And if I’m not mistaken... we happen to be in the month of September now. I think I’m overdue for the completion of my trilogy.David grins. David: Losing to Hunter Sullivan on the first Animosity was a fluke. If you go back and watch the footage, I mean, really watch the footage closely, I never tapped out. I’m David Motherfucking Blazenwing! I. DON’T. QUIT! I will admit to grabbing at the mat to try and pull myself towards the ropes; and perhaps, I grabbed a little too wildly, or perhaps too fast, because the referee thought I was tapping out when I clearly wasn’t. Should I be penalized for losing a match just because the referee was either crooked, retarded, or both? I don’t think so, but I’ve already discussed it with Mason, and the decision is final.A short, stunted sigh. David: Whatever. Shit happens. Last week, however, was completely beyond my control. My apologies to Russell Franchise, but with Jen and Melody both down with the flu, I was needed more at home than I was in the ring. The gold is important to me, but I don’t know what I would do if something happened to either of my girls and I wasn’t there.Blazenwing glares into the camera. David: So, a loss that wasn’t really a loss and a no-show due to a family emergency is all that it takes to pull David Blazenwing out of World Title contention? No. I don’t get pushed out of the way that easily. So, I have two options. Either I do something so amazing, so mind-numbingly awesome this week that it convinces Wade Mason to give me another shot at main-eventing the next pay-per-view for the World Championship that I so rightfully deserve... or I stage a sit-in in the middle of the ring and refuse to leave until my demands are met.DB smirks. David: Luckily for you, I have too much on my plate right now to spend my free time sitting. So, I guess that leaves me with only one option... option A. I put on the best damn show of my goddamn life and completely lay waste to both Lily “World Breaker” Haris and Harvey “The Fuckin’ Franchise Killer” Clayton.Blazenwing smiles. David: To be honest, that sounds completely in the realm of possibility. Now, since I haven’t heard a damn peep from either of these two this week yet, I took the opportunity to fish out some information of my own. Harvey’s a former multi-time World Champion. Lily, apparently, has never held a title. What this tells me is two possibilities; Harvey boy has the experience, which could make him my most dangerous foe Monday night. Lily, however, has never been to the big dance, which may make her hungry, and even more dangerous than Harvey. There’s a distinct gender difference between my two opponents, but if my matches against females in the past has taught me anything, it’s that they can be just as tough - if not tougher - than the guys, so any strategy regarding that goes right out the window. Well, unless I want to kick one of them in the nuts when the ref isn’t looking. Then, it’s a little easier to pick out the best target.David flashes a sinister, yet playful, grin. David: Judging by their styles in the videos I’ve seen, it would seem that Lily leans a bit towards the technical aspect of the game, much like myself, but she focuses mostly on the submissions, which means I need to keep my free limbs as far away from her as possible. Harvey, on the other hand, just screams pure power. That’s where my speed will come into play. He can’t HARVEY SMASH me if he can’t Harvey Catch me.
David smirks, winking to the camera. David: I’m looking forward to Animosity this Monday night. Mason has assured me that he’s going to make personally sure that the referee taking our triple-threat match is completely impartial. Rather, he hasn’t yet, but after hearing that, I’m SURE he’ll jump right on it. It seems like the kind of guy he is.Blazenwing laughs. David: More than that, though, I’m looking forward to really taking a stride forward in making my mark in True Glory Wrestling. Mark my words, all of you... I will be TGW World Champion. And nobody, especially not Harvey Clayton or Lily Haris, will stand in my way. At least not for very long. You can take that... to the bank. The camera zooms in close on Blazenwing’s face, until all we can see are his eyes, nose and mouth, the candlelight still flickering off his features. David: ...it’s all part of the plan.At the exact moment when DB finishes, a pop is heard and every candle in the room goes out at the same time. The word 'seven’ can be heard for a few moments resonating in the background before the camera cuts to static. EDIT: The word seven in the last line was mistyped, so I fixed it.
