Franchise walks out of Wade Mason's office at TGW headquarter with a smile on his face. He recently just signed contract to put his Volutionary Belt on the line with the stipulation being a Steel Legal match for his title. Then, immediately after the fall of the Volutionary Title, he'll be competing for the top title in the land...The TGW World Title!
Russell knows that more than his title will be on the line. His streak as an unbeaten will be on the line too! He has never tapped out or been pinned in the ring in his career in TGW, something quite remarkable for this wrestler. He wasn't always the greatest wrestler in the land, he had to paid his dues. In ESW, it took him a couple of matches before he even scored his first win. Franchise knew what a loss felt like! Even on the football field, a win is a win and a loss is a loss, no matter if it was close or not.
The World Title would be on the line, something Franchise knew would be his sooner or later. After waiting for competitors like AJ Donovan and Cody Only to have their shots at the title, he knew that if he ever wanted to make his move for the title, it would have to be now.
The Blacklist was coming after TGW. And he knew that something had to be done. He has seen how destructive this clan of reckless wrestlers could destroy something as fragile as the TGW locker room. TGW needed a leader, and Franchise was ready to take on the challenge.
As Franchise cut on his webcam, his demeanor was calm and focused, more focused than any other time in TGW. He did not give his customary greeting as he usually did with his cam shows. He hardly looked at the camera as he started his speech!
Franchise: I came from a neighborhood where nothing was ever given to you. You either did two things; you asked for it or you earned it. You could ask for a small amount of money or a favor from a mother or elder person on your block, but if you needed something big, you had to earn it! Nothing of great value is ever given, but earned.
And so, I began my life earning everything I needed to survive in the Fifth Ward in Charlotte, NC! I hardly asked for anything in my life. I earned my keep in the hood. I worked several jobs just to earn enough money to get a broke down bike. And when punks stole my bike, I didn't ask for one, I got a job and started saving up for it.
When I wanted to go to college on a football scholarship, I worked my ass off night and day, balancing a 3.5 GPA with an amazing football presence on the field. I never got breaks though school. I kept my eyes on the prize til I got the phone call from South Carolina to play football for them.
Even when I was in the NFL, I fought for every award and recognition on the field. I earned my keep in the league every play. I never gave less than 110% on any play. I left myself open for possible injuries every game and still walked away from the stadium with a renewed pride in what I did for a living.
And now, I stand as one of the top wrestlers of TGW, holding possession of the Volutionary Championship, the only title that allows me to do whatever I want whenever the time calls for me to defend it. I earned this title by beating every competitor that has been placed in my path. I've fought in a steel cage and in a no hold's barred match and I've still held my head up despite all the pain.
But now, I stand in the path of the uncharted. At Redemption, I will have the opportunity of possibly claiming both the Volutionary and the World Title at the same time. I was given this opportunity by Mason because he has seen that I am truly the only CONSTANT in True Glory Wrestling! And now, as that constant, the 'A' Game has to finally step up to earn his keep!
Blazenwing, we fought in the same wrestling promotion some years ago and now, we find ourselves against each other for 2 titles. You are a legend, you have done it all from having a World Title to running your own federation. But, I'm a legend in the making. Blazenwing, the time has come for the 'A' Game to come to your town and show you the future of professional wrestling. I will show you that I am not one who you can push down. I am the pillar that keeps the TGW moving! And if you have a problem with that, why don't we settle the damn thing in the ring.
And Adams, this will be our first battle too. But this is just more than two men facing each other. It will be champion versus champion placing their titles on the line. You want my Volutionary Title. I want the TGW World Title. Come Redemption, we will be two men defending and competing for the titles that we hold. But I will finish the damn business once and for all. The whole world will finally see that I am ready to step up to be the guiding light for TGW, to guide us past the Blacklist and uphold wrestling to it's highest standard. Adams, you're not ready for this big task, and it's time for somebody to finally stand up for the little man!
Ladies and gentleman, I don't expect the TGW to ever be the same again after Redemption. In fact, the world of professional wrestling may be rocked to a brand new level. But hear this, The 'A' Game, win or lose, will be giving you, the fans that support us week in and week out, the show of a lifetime! All I ask is that if Adams and Blazenwing want to show the world what they got, that they just do one simple thing! I ask that the would bring the pain, and I'll bring....THE 'A' GAME!!!

I’m going to focus on what I came to TGW to do - becoming a Champion. The screen comes to life with a rotating TGW logo. After a few moments, a hole appears in the center of the logo and expands, revealing the inner sanctum of a drinking establishment familiar to anybody who calls themselves a wrestling fan and has ever visited Milwaukee… The Full Effect. David Blazenwing’s family-run Bar and Grill. The camera slowly pans around the bar area, showcasing a nearly-full room. There are people sitting on the edge of their barstools watching the final, disappointing moments of the Pistons/Bucks game and families sitting in the booths and at the tables enjoying their food. (Rated #2 in Milwaukee! Damn you, La Perla! Damn you!) Throughout the building, relics of David Blazenwing’s wrestling career can be seen adorning the walls. Photos of his first win. Replicas of his most important Championships held. Autographs from world-famous wrestlers from BWF, eWo and federations beyond. Even David Blazenwing’s old superhero mask can be seen on display, always a favorite of the young children who come with their parents for a good old fashioned family meal. After a few more moments of panning around the establishment, the camera settles on the three individuals standing behind the bar - David Blazenwing himself, serving drinks to the locals, his wife Jen, chatting up some of the regulars, and family friend (and former wrestler) Katie “Stutterfly” James, who seems far more interested in chatting up David himself. Katie: It’s been a long time since I’ve seen you two! How are things going?David shrugs. David: Eh. Here and there. You know how the business can be.Katie nods. Katie: Yeah, I know. I’m kind of surprised you’re still wrestling, David. How many times have you retired?Katie chuckles softly. Jen can be heard snorting under her breath. Jen: Katie, honey, this is wrestling we’re talking about. I think the records show that David needs to retire at LEAST five or six more times before it can start to be taken seriously! The three laugh, David laughing the hardest. David: Ah, I needed that. It’s been a rough couple of weeks.Katie: So I’ve seen.David raises an eyebrow. David: Oh? You’ve been tuning into TGW?Katie nods, smiling wryly. Katie: Oh, yeah. Sarah’s actually the one who turned me on to it. She told me you were wrestling again, and that I needed to see it for myself.David: Sarah, man, she takes me back. How is she these days?David looks over and notices Jen glaring at him, giving him that “how dare you bring her up in front of me” look. For those of you not in the know, David and Jen split for a few months back in 2006, and during that time, David dated Katie’s sister Sarah, better known to the wrestling world as the Amazon Princess, Kirlia Gardevoir. Katie: Oh, she’s fine. She’s actually been running an animal shelter down in Miami. It’s been good for her. The business took it’s toll on her. A lot harder than any of us, I think.David nods slowly. David: She made some bad choices early on in her career that never stopped haunting her. I can relate. It’s the kind of thing that will drive you insane if you let it. I chose to take a different route to alleviate the pressure on me.At hearing this, Katie’s expression darkens considerably. Katie: I saw. And I have to admit, I’m quite disappointed in you, David! Turning on your fans? Really? I think Shane Magnus was right when he said that -David’s eyes immediately ignite, and Katie stops dead. David: Don’t you dare.Jen sighs. Jen: Stop being a douche, David. She’s right. Magnus is right too. So, what, you turned “to the dark side” (Jen uses air quotes in saying this) and got a title shot at the next pay-per-view. But was it worth it? I mean REALLY worth it? Think about it. Say you win the World title Sunday, or even the Volitionary Title. You won’t be able to celebrate, because anyone who would be celebrating with you will instead be booing the bejesus out of you!David shrugs, looking slightly disappointed at hearing this from his wife and close friend, of all people. David: I did what I had to do. Why doesn’t anybody understand that? And yes, I DID get a title shot out of it, so how can anybody say it wasn’t worth it? And another thing, I’d have thought that if ANYBODY would be on my side, it’d be the two of you!Katie shrugs halfheartedly, looking slightly crestfallen. Katie: I just, I don’t know, David. I went down that path once, and it wasn’t fun. Being one of the so-called bad guys nearly completely killed my love for the business. It made wrestling from an exhilarating experience into a chore - and a dangerous one at that. Just… be careful. I saw what happened last Monday with Blacklist.Jen chuckles. Jen: Yeah. He got his ass handed to him by two women.Jen and Katie both start laughing. David blushes slightly. David: Hey! They hit really hard! Not to mention they blindsided me, and -Jen puts her hand up. Jen: Relax, tough guy. Nobody’s challenging you for your man card. Not tonight, at least.David nods, then goes back to work. The three remain silent for close to a minute before Katie finally speaks up again. Katie: So, what are you going to do at Retribution?David starts to answer, then stops himself. Instead, he thinks for a good thirty seconds. Finally, he turns to Katie with a gleam in his eye and answers… David: Anything and everything. I WILL leave Retribution with the World Championship. Maybe the Volitionary Championship, too. But I’m not going to let AJ Adams or Russell Franchise get in my way.Jen: And what about Blacklist?David: I’ll deal with them after Retribution. They’ll get theirs, just like anybody else who messes with me does in the end.*********************************************************************** After all the hardships, all the struggles, all the life-altering decisions I’ve had to make since signing on TGW’s dotted line, my time to shine has finally arrived.
My shot at the TGW World Championship. And I promise you, I’ll only need one.
You tell a compelling story, Russell. I have to admit, I have a lot of respect for anybody who can go through all the shit you had to and not only survive, but thrive. I’ve even told you man to man - well, at least via our company Twitter accounts - that you’re the only person in TGW I truly respect. You’re not fake like some of these other wannabes. You put yourself out there every week, and you have a Championship reign to show for it.
You’re a man’s man, Russell.
But don’t think for one damn second that I’m going to let any respect I have get between myself and victory come Retribution. Not that I think you would. Not that it matters anyways.
You see, Russell, I remember you back from my stint in ESW. Oh, yeah, I do. Tell me, how long were you in ESW? I know you were a member of the roster when I joined, and I know you were still there when U left. And in the short span of time I was an ESW superstar, I captured their World Championship from the formidable Lolita. How many World Championships did you win during your time in ESW, Russell? I don’t see any listed in the history books.
Why is that, Russell? I’ll tell you why. Up to now, you’ve been put against nobodies in TGW. You won a secondary title that, while it would look good on my resume in the long run, means very little to me in the here and now. You’re undefeated in TGW. We were supposed to have a match a month ago that got postponed due to a family illness. Nothing personal, my wife and daughter come before any wrestling match. You understand. But my point is this; had that match occurred that night, you would already have a defeat on your record. And then how special would you be? Odds are this title match would be a one on one affair between myself and AJ Adams.
Let me put it in terms even somebody like you can understand, Russell; you’re good, but you’re not Blazenwing good. You’re not even close to being in my league. I have no doubts that you’ll get there someday - you have skill, and from me, that’s a massive compliment, and one I don’t give out lightly.
But, all that said, I’m not going to let you become a household name at my expense. It’s like I told Magnus a few weeks ago. And come to think of Shane boy, it reminds me of that poster he “found” of myself tapping out. Said “So easy even a Blazenwing can do it”. Remember? Despite the fact that it had copyright infringement written ALL over it, and I do think it would be a shame if Geico were to come after TGW superstar “The System” Shane Magnus, who can have cease and desist letters delivered to him directly through the TGW offices - those addresses can be found on TGW.com, by the way - it got me working on a little something of my own.
Tell me what you think. Go on, be honest.
No matter what you do think of it, you can’t deny it’s got appeal.
And it’s not a banana.
Speaking of fruit, that brings me to our “TGW Champion”, AJ Adams.
Yes, I just used air quotes. Why? Because Russell and I should be fighting AJ Donovan at the pay-per-view, not this nobody. I’d love to spar with him, go word for word and see if he’s as clichéd as everyone else who tries to discount everything I’ve accomplished in this business as pure luck - six World Titles, come on, even a fucking leprechaun’s not that lucky. It’s SKILL, kids. Look it up. Then realize that, as the folks responsible for all those LOLcat pictures would say, I HAZ IT.
I digress.
AJ, the only reason you’re World Champion right now is because AJ Donovan got his ass deported and Cody Only’s a joke, and you know it. It will be a personal joy to enter the ring against you at Retribution and personally relieve you of the ten pounds of gold whoring itself around your waist. You lucked your way into being World Champion. I’ll earn what is soon to be my gold the hard way.
Russell. AJ. When the lights come on at Retribution and our match begins, I’m not going to be looking to make a statement. I’m not going to be looking to send either of you away on a stretcher. I might look for Batman once or twice, that fucker can pop up anywhere. But after that, I’m going to focus on what I came to TGW to do - becoming a Champion. Specifically, a World Champion. Maybe I’ll bring the Volitionary Title home as well. It depends on my mood come the show.
Make no mistake, though, boys. I’m coming to Retribution with one goal in mind, and that goal is to beat some ass and win some gold.
No matter what I have to do to accomplish that.
Take that… to the bank.

Last week I said that I was ready to take on the Blacklist and I proved that fact. My team may have lost the match but it was at the hands of Jordan Albrecht, someone that couldn't even make it two weeks in this company. He got a taste of what having to step up to competition is like and got took a step back. I on the other hand stepped up and was going blow for blow with 'em. I understand that this Blacklist is wanting to come and pretty much have their way with TGW and, unlike Russell Franchise, I am ready to back up my words. Coming into this company if you asked me to step up and take on a group like Blacklist, I would have laughed. I would have just looked out for myself and thrown everyone else to the wolves. Something has started to change over the past couple weeks and it culminated with my title win over Cody Only.
Cody was all about doing what was best for TGW and in came the Blacklist and pretty much took him out and sent him packing. Now, I feel as I must do what he couldn't. I must stand up to the giant and do what is best for TGW. Russell, you're a good guy and have been a great asset to this company since it opened it's doors. However, the biggest difference between the two of us is that I can get the job done. This Monday, I'll show you just that. I don't need to take your title from you, I won't need to make use of ladders or chairs, and I won't need to say silly things like, “Do the damn thing”. I don't need to say something flashing or tell you that I'm better, than, you. I am simply going to walk into Retribution and do what I do best, win. Just like you I have yet to be pinned or made to submit. I intend to keep mine intact.
Your Volitionary Title might be something that be much different than my TGW Title, simply because of the stipulations, but we are both respected members of the roster for holding them. Would it be nice to carry around two titles? Sure. It will bring on more responsibility and I know I can handle it. Russ, you don't comprehend the fact that if you some how pull off a double victory Monday, you'll be going double most nights. It'll be time to step it up, and if you're already bringing your “A” game, then you're in for a world of hurt.
The biggest win of your career has been over Kaori Shikagami, someone who never actually amounted to anything important. The biggest match of your career is this Monday, it won't be your biggest win.
Then David Blazenwing, round 2. October 5th I was setting up for the Last Call on Steve Canyon and you busted out of no where and hit me with the Full Effect. That allowed Canyon to lock in a submission to add to the punishment.
David, you've gone through some changes in state of mind since coming to TGW and truth be told, it all sucks. You've been so up and down it's always a wonder which DBlaze will show up in the ring and this week is no different. You beat a no one in Orange Crush this week but will you be in the same mind frame this week? After your match you got a taste of the Blacklist back stage when Quaranta and Morgan gave you a little beat down.
Personally, I hope that the Blazenwing that wins matches shows up to Retribution. I want to beat him, I want to further my career by beating someone who has held 6 World Titles. You're hoping for lucky number 7, but it's not your time. Right now, I'm the top dog in TGW and I'll continue to keep on winning. After Retribution, I'll turn my attention to the Blacklist, still as the champion.
Dave, you're the old dog in the match and you know it. No one is telling you to hang it up, in fact I think you have plenty of years left. Whether or not you believe that, I'm sure your buddy Gabe Shelley wouldn't mind having another trainer on the staff. Or maybe he can get you a job setting up the ring before the shows. My question for you is, how much do you want to be here? Would you have came looking to compete in TGW had Gabe not called you up? You thought your career was over and you had hung them up for the last time. If the only reason you're here is because a pal said you should be, then you're here for the wrong reasons.
You say I'M the joke here, when if you ask around most of the people in this business will tell you that outside of your own company, you were never really that great. You either took advantage of an open slot or had things handed to you. Just like this week, you didn't earn this match. You beat a bunch of no one cares to get here. If you think I don't deserve this title, then after I beat you and retain, I'll simply prove you otherwise.
You say that I beat joke of Cody Only, but when it came down to it, Cody should have beat AJ Donavon. All of the boys in the back knew that Donavon's number was up the next time he had to face Cody. So by beating him, I've earned where I am. I've earned this TGW Title and I plan on showing you why.
You can have your goals and eyes set on MY title all you want, keep dreaming. You've always talked a big game but now it's time to step up. I don't believe in luck, Dave. It's skill. Right?
Retribution will be another match, another feat to overcome, another time for me to keep my word. I will walk out Monday with the TGW Title over my shoulder. Then it's on to the Blacklist. Step up. Friday. October 23rd. 12:28pm. AJ Adams' Apartment. San Diego, California.[/right] The sun was shining and AJ was in a marvelous mood, the curtains open to let the sun in, the radio playing in the background – the Blueprint 3 album from Jay Z playing, and flipping through the phone book. It was getting close to lunch and AJ was looking for something simple, but not take out. He came across a small Italian joint that seemed perfect for his mood. He walked around his living room to gather a few things – his cell phone, wallet, and his keys. He knew it wasn't too far of a walk and didn't mind as the weather was perfect. *Knock Knock* He turns curiously, not expecting company. He looks through the peep-hole and sees Cassie standing there with a smile on her face. AJ opens the door and immediately is handed two tickets. He looks down at them and sees that they are tickets to see Paranormal Activity at a local cinema. “I know that you would be stuck in the house because you hardly go out unless I'm dragging you around. It's a Friday night and we are going to see a movie, my treat. Before that we can go to dinner. It's time we talk about our pasts, our futures, dreams, goals, and the present.” AJ has yet to get a word in and Cassie finally stops, smiles, and holds back a laugh. “Well, Cass, I guess now that you're here let's go to lunch. I'm starving.” Now Cassie seemed a little drawn back, this being the first time he was forward about wanting something. He figured now was as good of a time as ever to tell her about what he does. He knew that he couldn't hide his profession from her forever, nor did he want to try. He cared for this girl and was in wonderment as to where it might be going. Things felt perfect for AJ. He was confident about his upcoming title defense, he knew that the Blacklist would be waiting and he was ready, he was also ready to take on real life. The scariest thing in the world.

Franchise walks into the Gold's Gym in San Diego....he drops his bag in the locker room...after sitting on the bench, he looks at his reflection in the mirror.
Franchise: It's funny how after you've accomplished more than anybody else has, the critics still have something to come up with. You view my matches with no-names like Kaori and Ja-Gi and Steve Canyon and you say that they weren't anything spectatular. And the only thing I can say is...didn't you see me dominate those matches?
Franchise walks over to the bench and loads over 250lbs on the bench. He then slides underneath the bar and takes his position.
Franchise: Don't get me wrong. They were weak opponents, but they brought it to me. Even when I underestimated them, they managed to surprise me. But I cam back and finished the damn thing!
Franchise pushes the bar up and down slowly 8 to 10 times, slowly enduring the pain of the weights going up and down with him.
Franchise: And Adams, don't get me wrong. Saying "Finish the Damn Thing" may be a little bit corny! But I'm a man of my word. I finish the shit in my life that needs to be stopped. Whether it is a Asian idiot who thinks he's above everyone else to a so-called World Champion getting his ass whooped by a bunch of renegade punk bitches. Adams, you were never made for this battle, you were never made to handle the stress of defending a whole wrestling idea. You say my words are cheap, but soon, you will find out that my actions speak louder than my words!
Franchise hops off the bench, drenched his own sweat, he walks over to the squat bar, loaded with 500lbs of iron.
Franchise: You say that I haven't faced any good competition. Well, had Blazenwing decided to show up, I would have shown the world what I can do against top talent. Unfortunately, you have to wait til now to see me and Blazenwing in the ring together for your Blazenwing. Now, don't get me wrong, I'm going to do all I can to make sure I leave Redemption with my Volutionary Title, but I'm also going to do everything possible to walk out as the new World Champion!
After squatting under the bar, he bust out several squats in a row, yelling in succession every time he pops up.
Franchise: When I say, "Bring the Pain" I'm not trying to say something to sell t-shirts! I want you to bring that fire to the ring! That's why I asked for the Steel Legal match. I want whatever you guys can bring to the fire. Adams, if you think that I can't stand toe to toe with you, you come to the ring and go 2 rounds with me. After the first match, if you think I'm still not worthy to face you for the World Title, I'll step up the 'A' Game to a brand new level that even you can't survive.
Same goes with you, Blazenwing. It's time you bring the fight to me rather than just talk words. We're not in ESW anymore, you're not in the Von Doom world of wrestling, you're back in a Franchise World! And in that world, there is no chance in blue hell that you'll walking out with more than an ass whooping! I will make hell reign over you in the ring! I don't care how many championships you have over me, as long as I keep this World Title away from you!
Gentlemen, we all know how important this opportunity is. TGW needs a leader more than ever before. Somebody who can lead us against any group that wants to dominate over us. The point is simple, who ever steps up and wins the World Title is the new leader of the pack. And I don't know about you, but ever since I signed that contract, I've done nothing but eat, sleep, and breathe TGW! I'm the CONSTANT of TGW! I've been at every match and won every thing on my own! I will not be stopped at Redemption! The 'A' Game is ready to lead the cause against the Blacklist.
So, did this, let's settle everything in the ring. Let's see who has the strength, the guts, the balls to stand up for what he believes in! Let's put on a show that outshines any show one could ever put on for Detroit fans! And once and for all, let's see who's going to "run this town" after Redemption!
And remember, I'm ready for the steel, I'm ready for the pain, I'm ready for MY WORLD TITLE! All I ask is that you're ready to handle....THE 'A' GAME!!!

If you want a constant, look no further. The camera opens and we see TGW superstar (and, by flaw or design, one of the two current #1 Contenders to the TGW World and Volitionary Championships) David Blazenwing. He appears to be outside of his home, lost in thought. Leaning against a nearby tree, it’s golden leaves littering the nearby grass, David has his XWE Cruiserweight Championship in hand - the first Championship he ever won all the way back in 2002. As he stares deep into it, perhaps looking for that last bit of inspiration he needs before the big Retribution main event tomorrow night, his daughter walks into view. Her name is Melody. Sporting her father’s long, blonde hair, with cute chubby little cheeks and, as her own mother once described her, “a smile that could melt a glacier”, the adorable little 4 ¾ year old (as she’ll tell you herself, she’ll be five on new year’s eve!) peeks around the tree and giggles before leaping and latching onto her dad’s leg. David looks down and grins. David: Hey, squirt. Whatcha up to?Melody: Mama says dinner is ready. Then you have to go on the plane.David nods. David: Yeah, I have work tomorrow night.Melody: Are you gonna win, Daddy?David laughs. David: I’m gonna try, sweetie! I’m gonna try.Melody puts her hands on the belt. Melody: Can I hold it again?David nods, then lets go. Melody nearly falls over as she picks up the heavy belt. After a few moments of struggling, she puts it on the grass and proceeds to lay down next to it. For a few moments, she runs her fingers over the belt’s raised designs before speaking up. Melody: Mama said you might bring home a new toy tomorrow night.David: Oh, is that what she said?Melody smiles. Melody: Is it true? Are you, Daddy?David chuckles. David: I might. It won’t be easy, but I’ll do my best. For you and your mom.Melody slowly stands up and hugs her father’s leg. Melody: I think you’re already the best, Daddy.David: Well, I’m glad. Your opinion is the only one that matters to me.Melody then laughs as David picks her up and hoists her onto his shoulder. Jen: You know, I don’t think you’re half bad, either.David and Melody turn to see Jen standing in the doorway to their home, holding a spatula. Jen: Seriously, are you guys coming? The food’s getting cold!David: What’s on the menu, babe?Jen: Macaroni and weenies. Oh, and some corn.Melody, at hearing this, wrinkles her nose. Melody: Eww… I hate corn!David laughs. David: Oh yeah? Cause your Dad LOVES it! And if you ever want to get big and strong like me, you’ll have to eat it!Melody’s eyes light up slightly. Melody: Will I be able to bring home shiny new toys and play with men on TV if I eat my corn, Daddy?David: Uh… well, sure, you can bring home all the toys you want. Just toys. With a T. No boys. None of that. Ever.Melody: Okay, Daddy!David gently lowers Melody to the ground and watches her as she runs back towards the house. Jen tells her to wash her hands as she shuffles past her mother. David then looks up at his wife as the two of them find themselves alone. Jen: Everything alright?David: Yeah. Just…Jen: Worried about tomorrow night.David nods slowly. Jen: Win or lose, you’ll do great, baby. And you know that no matter what happens, the both of us are always so very proud of you.David: I know. I just… this might be the most important match of my career. My chance to prove that I still have it. That I still deserve to be on everybody’s screens each week. And even if I win, now I have to worry about people saying that I didn’t earn the shot. Why can’t I ever just win? Why can’t I just get one match where I can win a title and everybody says “good job, DB” or “you really kicked some ass, DB!” or “Dave, you’re the man!” I’m sick of everybody treating me like I’m the Barry fucking Bonds of professional wrestling. I don’t want to be the guy with the asterisk next to his name in the record books.Jen nods, then walks over to her husband and hugs him as hard as she can. Jen: I know you’re worried about your legacy. Don’t be. Even if you never win another title in your entire career, you’re still the Champion to me. You’re still my Champion.David smiles as he looks into the eyes of his beloved. David: Thanks, baby. You always know how to make me feel better. But if it’s all the same to you, I’d much prefer to be your Champion AND the TGW World Champion after tomorrow night.Jen grins. Jen: Well, I’m not going to lie to you, seeing you with the belt around your waist would be all kinds of hot. So yeah, let’s do that. I like that.David laughs, then Jen laughs. The two then share a romantic embrace as the scene fades to black. *********************************************************************** Well, first of all, I feel as if I need to say something special to my opponents, it’s not really in the spirit of the match, but it’s something I’ve been doing a lot of thinking about since Shane Magnus stopped me backstage last week… if you guys are going to be starting a fight against the Blacklist, count me in. I may not be the easiest guy to get along with, but I’ll be damned if I’m going to let those little cunt stains try and jump me backstage. That, and I’ve never liked Jack Darling. If you want me, you got me. If you don’t, it’s your loss.
Now, as far as the match this Monday night goes, I feel as if I first need to say kudos to both of my opponents. For the first time in years, I feel genuinely inspired to compete. If I’ve seemed lackadaisical in TGW so far, it’s because I’m tired of listening to no-name rookies talk to me like they’ve known me for years and want to run down the list of all the backstage political bullshit I’ve been a part of since my career started.
And that’s really what it is, isn’t it? Bullshit. I can admit it. I can admit that of all my World Championships, I still feel like I never truly earned one. I mean, I have, there’s no doubting I’ve beaten some of the world’s top name talent to take the brass ring. But I still haven’t been able to do it on this stage. This… community that has arisen up. The remnants of that which I once had a hand in creating. Not purely of my own skill, at least.
But, don’t you understand, AJ? Russell? That doesn’t make me any less qualified to walk away as TGW World Champion when the dust settles tomorrow night at Retribution. No… it only makes me that much more dangerous. Because I’m a man who not only craves victory, but a man who is determined to prove himself to the only person in this world that truly matters… me.
I didn’t ask for this match. And maybe you’re right, AJ, I don’t deserve this match, either. Hell, maybe you’re right about all my other title matches, too. Right place at the right time? I’m not gonna pass up a title opportunity - ever. Call me an opportunist. Or maybe it’s just my winning personality.
Either way, that’s not going to stop me from achieving my destiny. You see, I made a promise to myself when I decided to call Gabe Shelley back to get in touch with Wade Mason. I promised myself that if I was going to come back, I needed to come back full steam - I needed to prove that not only did I deserve to be in the same ring as all of you, but that I could win the World Championship and defend it with pride each and every week.
Now, regardless of whether or not I earned my shot, the simple fact remains that I have it, and God help you, I’m going to take full advantage of it. The Volitionary Title is involved too, of course. Don’t think for one moment that I’m overlooking the importance of TGW’s only other Championship title. It just doesn’t hold the same redemption for me as winning the TGW World Championship would. Doesn’t mean I won’t try to win it tomorrow night; just means it’s not my primary concern.
You want the Blazenwing that wins matches to show up at Retribution, AJ? I’ll do you one better… I promise you that the only Blazenwing that is showing up tomorrow night is the one who wins Championship gold. Just don’t come crying to me when I separate you two from your precious gold belts.
Russell, you keep referring to yourself as the “constant” of TGW. Why are you bragging about being around in a company that hasn’t even existed for two months yet? If you want a constant, look no further. No, maybe I’m not undefeated. And hell, I’m not even the most responsible guy in the world. I fuck up sometimes, I miss flights, I need time off - I’m only human. But I’ve been wrestling in this business almost without a break for damn near eight years now. That’s almost a full decade of kicking ass and taking names. Maybe I don’t have the cleanest reputation in the world, but the fact still remains that like me or hate me, all the posers who shit on my legacy still know who the hell I am. Can the same be said about either of you?
Tell me, where is The Legend now? Where is Danny Allan? His wife, Adriana Garcia? Cody Clark? Kyle Cross? Captain Marticus? Scott Free… wait, didn’t he die? Meh. Anyways, you get my fucking point. All the people who acted like they’re better than me, put themselves over me and treated me like garbage, and where are they now? I can’t tell you, and if I don’t know, then it’s not important enough for anybody to know. I have STAYING POWER. I am the ONLY true constant in this business! No matter where you go… there will always be Blazenwing. Maybe I’m winning, maybe I’m losing, but I’m always having the time of my goddamned life.
And now, we come to Retribution. The biggest main event in the short history of TGW. Both TGW Championship belts are on the line. I still don’t know what match type the Volitionary Title will be defended in, but you know what? Fuck it! Bring it on! Cause I’ll go through anything to get the shot at what I’m really craving… the TGW World Championship.
Whether you like it or not, there’s only one man who has the skill, the ability, the knowledge and the charisma to be your next TGW World Champion. And his name is David Blazenwing.
Take that… to the bank.
