We hear a sigh as we fade in to find the still undefeated TGW Champion, Aaron Rupp, standing in his room and staring deeply at his reflection in a mirror, his emerald eyes apparently searching his own soul. He’s dressed in blue jean shorts and a South Park “Kick Ass Cartman” t-shirt, the TGW Title belt resting on his left shoulder. Aaron’s eyes slowly wander to the reflection of his championship as he begins to speak without turning to face the camera.
“As sad as this sounds, I think Alli Taylor is starting to get upset with having a ‘goody-goody’ being her top champion, and she’s trying desperately to find someone who can defeat me. What makes this sad is that the majority of the TWG roster is filled with ego-driven assholes who I’d love to pick off one by one, but apparently doing so would mean I’d defy Alli and she’d throw a fit and everything. So instead, I’m stuck facing whoever she lines up in front of me instead of seeing if there’s anyone on the roster who has what I’m looking for to be the one who can not only hand me my first TGW loss, but also be someone I’d have no shame in losing this title to because I’d know that person would be a respectful champion and continue what I started in being the man or woman at the top of the mountain and doing so in honorable fashion. I know a lot of these egomaniacs on the roster are going to try and call me out on not being a ‘fighting champion’ and all that, but you all need to realize something… when I first won this title, I was hoping to be a fighting champion and defending this title against all comers, whenever and wherever. But apparently Miss Taylor doesn’t like the idea of that because it would mean I’d be one person she’d be unable to maintain control over on her roster. So instead of defending the TGW Title week in and week out like I’d hoped to do to prove myself, I’m being put in matches that not only see me not defending this title, but also make me question how competent Alli Taylor truly is when it comes to the matches she books. In the time I’ve been TGW Champion, I’ve only defended this title once, and the only reason I got that opportunity… in a match I asked for and she refused to allow, for that matter… was because the fans were given control and they gave both Natalie Burrows and myself what we wanted because it’s also what they wanted. The fourway that turned into a threeway I could somewhat understand, but this Animosity… I just don’t get it.”
Aaron sighs again as he closes his eyes and lowers his head.
“This Animosity, I have to face a debuting wrestler named Sterling McClane.”
Aaron turns around to face the camera, slowly shaking his head.
“I’m not going to take anything away from Sterling, but I just don’t see how Alli Taylor can justify making his first match against me when I’m the TGW Champion and also undefeated so far. It just doesn’t seem right to me to have to face this guy in his debut when I’m in the position I’m in. There are only two reasons I can think of for Alli justifying this… either this guy is her newest hired hitman, or she was impressed with his work elsewhere and thinks that, based on that alone, he’ll do well here and decided to throw him right into the deep end immediately. Sadly, while both would be fine to Alli, they wouldn’t mean a damn thing to me. If he was her newest hitman, that creates a problem between us already that I’m going to have to take care of. And if he was impressive somewhere else, it wouldn’t matter because he still hasn’t done anything in TGW to deserve to be put up against me right off the bat.
However, there is one thing that does manage to salvage this whole situation…”
A small smirk comes to Aaron’s face.
“I did a little bit of research on Sterling McClane, and it turns out that ‘The Game’ just so happens to be an arrogant, egotistical, self-centered asshole. And I’m sure you all know by now how I feel about those kinds of people.”
Ruppy can’t help but chuckle a bit.
“Since you’re new Sterling, and I figure you’re too busy trying to plan out your post-match victory celebration than pay attention to me like you should be, I guess I can fill in the blanks for you. See, people like you… they don’t belong in this business. Egotists like yourself only end up destroying the wrestling business. You don’t care about the fans, despite the fact that without them this business wouldn’t exist because we’d have no one to put on the best damn show possible for. All you care about is yourself and how many titles you can hold to put your name in the history book. Titles aren’t everything, you know. And before you call me a hypocrite because I’m the current TGW Champion, I don’t defend this belt with the intention of trying to leave my mark or create a legacy or anything like that. To me, a title is just an accomplishment that shows how far I’ve come in this business since I first started wrestling five years ago. Do I need a championship to prove myself? No, because the only proof I need is to step between those ropes and give those fans what they came to see, and that’s honorable and respectful competition. And by killing egos like the one you have, I help make this company, and this sport, that much better because there’s one less person around to piss off the fans for the sake of getting attention.
Now that you know a little bit about why I wrestle, I have to wonder how overconfident you truly are in your own abilities. You seem to be the kind of guy that thinks he’s going to upset me without calling it an upset and think it’ll shoot you straight to the top. Sorry Sterling, but I’m nobody’s stepping stone. Nobody in TGW up to this point has been able to handle me at my best, and I keep getting better with each passing day. You may believe that you’re the one who’s finally going to stop me, but I regret to inform you that I’m not going to allow my first loss to be to an arrogant and unproven individual like yourself. You really want this win so badly? You’re going to have to damn near kill me to keep my shoulders down on the mat. You may not understand it, but you will accept it.”
Fade to black.
